Wheel Of Fortune Self Potato

Self Potato: The Silliest ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Guess Of All Time (VIDEO) On “Wheel of Fortune,” the category of “Thing” leaves things pretty open ended, but. We’re not sure what that could possibly mean, but perhaps you guys do. Feel free to leave your own self potatoes in the comments. Since it hit the air in 1975, Wheel of Fortune has become one of the most beloved game shows of all time. But it's not just the big wins that keep viewers coming back for more—in many cases, the major blunders committed by contestants are far more fun to see.

Did you get it right?

From its humble beginnings as a daytime show in the 1970s to its cult following today, Wheel of Fortune has earned the nickname “America’s Game.”

However, a recent puzzle has the internet scratching its collective noggin.

A podcast host who goes by the Twitter handle “Twitter’s Good Boy” shared a screen shot of the unfortunate puzzle, which has had thousands of likes, retweets and guesses.

Along with “Suck it dork,” incorrect answers ran the gamut from this…

DUCK AT WORK

… to this…

… to this, as well as a few guesses not suitable for all audiences.

PICK AT PORK

The actual correct answer was “Back at work,” which the contestant guessed in under one minute.

Other Wheel Of Fortune Fails

Obviously, this is not the first time a Wheel of Fortune puzzle has garnered a reaction.

There was the time contestant Kevin Haas chose a single incorrect letter, vastly altering the Tennessee Williams classic to “Streetcar Naked Desire.”

And was promptly ridiculed…

Dude on Wheel of Fortune had to solve this:

A STREETCAR NA_ED DESIRE

He asked for a K.

I’m gonna go lie down.

Haas was a good sport about the whole thing. He released a statement, in which he said, in part:

“I am happy I brought so many smiles to you all, and so I will smile with you and look back onto this moment and join you in the laughs. That my friends, is the naked truth.”

Avid viewers of The Wheel may also recall “Popsicle Bike.”

Then there was the poor, panicked player who thought “Self-potato” somehow made sense.

RT @Caissie: A lady on Wheel of Fortune just guessed the answer to SELF-PO_T_A_T was 'Self-Potato.'

However, perhaps no Wheel of Fortune fail was as awesomely awkward as the poor contestant who botched not one, not two but three puzzles in one show.

Of course, it is easy to play armchair contestant, thinking you could win every round. According to the game show’s FAQs, more than 1 million people vied for a Wheel audition last year while fewer than 600 people actually made it onto the show.
